Chop Print

This piece is a printing of my own personal logo. The material I used was similar to that of an eraser. It was easy to carve into but the challenging part was the shavings that were left over in the gaps. I used line space, value and balance for this piece.

Lino Black & White

In this assignment I had to carve out another personal design. I chose the song "Que Sera Sera" as an inspiration to my own design. I carved a rattle because according to the song the audience include all young women. After carving out the spaces of the design that were meant to be white I went over the whole lino wood with black pain and pressed it against plain paper.

Silk Screen

In this assignment I first had to create a personal design for silk screening. I then chose 3 colors and divided the design itself according to the color. In order for the design to show I had to use a lot of negative space and a variety of lines and colors. The piece itself is called "El Delrado" seeing as I was inspired by the cartoon movie itself.

Flower

In this assignment I chose a flower and zoomed in on the main part of the flower. The flower I chose was the birds of paradise because of the fiery color the petals have and the interesting shape it is. I used acrylic paint for this paint along with the artistic elements of line, color, shape and space

Chuck Close

In this assignment I used acrylic and Chuck closes technique to create a painting of my dear mother. The First step was to grid the original photo itself and the board itself. I used different shades of brown and shapes in order to create an abstract background and overall image. For the face itself I did not use every specific square but instead blended different skin tones to incorporate the whole picture. I used space, line, color consistently throughout the piece.

Timeline

For this assignment I chose to show the development of jewelry/ accessories throughout the years in both Western and non-western parts of the world. The timeline begins in 1000 CE and finishes in the present. The tope part of the timeline consists of non-western items and the bottom of western items. I used the Met Museum website which contains timelines itself and a map with differentiating eras of all forms of art.

Chalk Drawing

In this piece I used side walk chalk to draw the famous, Creation of Adam, by Michelangelo. The surface was in the sidewalk making the texture rough and bumpy. The chalk was very powdery not allowing full covered colors in. However since the original piece is on the wall it worked perfectly. The black chalk emphasizes the shape of the two hands
